CubeWorld is a community where you can learn about space and propose your own missions using CubeSats. Here you will learn how to develop your own experiments to be sent to space using the little CubeSats.

The CubeSat Project was developed by California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and Stanford University’s Space Systems Development Lab. The CubeSat program creates launch opportunities for universities previously unable to access space.

The CubeSat program strives to provide practical, reliable, and cost-effective launch opportunities for small satellites and their payloads. To do this, we provide the community with:

  • A standard physical layout and design guidelines.
  • A standard, flight proven deployment system (P-POD).
  • Coordination of required documents and export licenses.
  • Integration and acceptance testing facilities with formalized schedules.
  • Shipment of flight hardware to the launch site and integration to LV.
  • Confirmation of successful deployment and telemetry information.

How to go to space?

To get to the space, and not to fall, we need to reach what is called orbital speed. For low Earth orbit (LEO) we need to put our spaceship at about 200 km high and at 7.8 km/s (17,450 mph). That’s an incredible speed, and it’s obvious that it’s much more difficult to reach with a big spaceship than with a small one. That’s why CubeSats, with only 1 kg of mass are relatively easy to send to space.
